1. A / An
- Define something unspesific
- I saw a tiger when i was at the zoon (not spesific what tiger)
- My sister wants a dog for her birthday (not spesific what dog)
- We use "an" when the object first letter a vowel (an apple)
- We use "a" when the object first letter a consonant (a car)
2. The
- Spesific or particular nouns
- Let's read the book (spesific book)
- My father buys a new car, the car is very expensive
3. Singular Noun
- Only one person, one place, one thing, or one idea
- Examples = pen, pencil, kitchen, zoo, bobby
- Usually use a/an before the noun
4. Plural Noun
- Indicates that there is more than one noun
- Examples = bags, pencils, classrooms, hobbies, children
- For most noun will add s = Books, spoons
- For nouns that end in -ch, x, or ss sounds will add es = Classes, boxes, watches
- For nouns ending in f or fe, will change f to v and add es = Knives, wives, leaves
- Nouns ending in the consonant y change to s/es = Babies, toys
- Some nouns have irregular plural form = children, mice, women, geese
- A few nouns have the same singular and plural forms = sheep, deer
